- Before Picture Weight: 225+ lbs. (Not too sure, didn’t weigh myself much after I had reached that weight. Although I’m certain this picture wasn’t even at my highest weight). May 2009
- During Picture Weight: 170 lbs. August 2012
- Current weight: 167
My initial weight loss took place in the span of under year, during my sophomore year of college. During that time I was on a weight loss mission, fueled by the rage following my first “heart break.” I followed a rather strict diet/exercise regimen, eating only lean meats, lots of fruits and veggies, and minimal to no carbs, in addition to running and high intensity yoga for toning. Although I was eating “enough” calorie wise, I wouldn’t recommend it simply because it’s not a sustainable lifestyle. But hey, it got me down 60 pounds.
For the next two years my weight fluctuated between 160 – 175lbs. I had attempted all sorts of fitness programs: Bikram Yoga, P90X, running, Insanity, group fitness classes at the gym, but for only sporadic periods of time before I would stop. While I’d like to say I was relatively active at some point, I didn’t loose any more weight because I never did properly moderate my relationship with food (and alcohol after turning 21 ;)) Furthermore, I also didn’t permanently incorporate exercise into my lifestyle & always found myself blaming school, internships, studying for not giving me the time to work out (which is just not true, time management is key!)
While I am proud of myself for maintaining this weight loss for so long (it means I’m doing something right… right?), I still have about 20-30lbs to loose in order to reach a healthy bmi. It truly requires life style change and a learning progress, nevertheless I’m rather excited to take on this new challenge. Feel free to follow my story @ http://journey2selflove.tumblr.com/
